New Contests

There’s 35 days until the Fremont County Fair kicks off August 1! And 11 days to entry deadline!

This year there’s a few new contests you can enter in!

1)  Best Fiesta Margarita
Rules:
1. All exhibitors will abide by all applicable policies of the Fremont County Fair.
2. Competition open to any creative margarita maker in Fremont County. No pre or post judging consumption of alcohol on the fair grounds.
3. Each entry to have a written description, on a 3” x 5”card, describing the margarita ingredients (actual amounts of each is optional).
4. Judging to be at the Fremont Center kitchen.
5. Awards and Premiums: Top 3 margaritas will receive a rosette and gift cards. Best Fiesta Margarita receives a special rosette and $75 in gift cards.

2)   Fiesta Piñata Contest
Rules:
1. Requirements: All piñatas must be homemade, not purchased, with a way to be hung from a ceiling. Piñatas must be filled with candy or small toys.
2. Bring your piñata to the Little Wind Center on Monday, August 1 from 12 pm to 7 pm.
3. Piñatas will be judged on Wednesday, August 3 by a panel of 3 judges with great awards being awarded to the Top Three (3) piñatas! In addition, all fair guests will be allowed to vote in a People’s Choice voting that will occur daily, through Friday, August 5 at1:00pm. Special award recognition to the entrant of the top voted piñata of the fair by fair guests!
4. *All piñatas are to be donated to Kidz Zone (youth 8 and under) for the “Kidz Zone Fiesta” to be held Saturday, August 6 at 2pm in the Little Wind Center. If an exhibitor wishes to keep the piñata created/entered and not donate it to the kids in Kidz Zone, it may be purchased and retained for $25.00, payable to the Friends of FC Fair.

3)  Facebook Scavenger Hunt
Participants will hunt for items during the 2016 Fremont County Fair, take pictures of items, and post to Facebook  while including the appropriate mentions (#2016FCF, #FremontFiesta) Scavenger Hunt Items:
1. Carnival Ride.
2. Animal being groomed.
3. Animal being shown.
4. Food Vendor at their booth.
5. Commercial Vendor at their booth.
6. Free Stage or Roaming Entertainment.
7. Anything Agriculture related.
8. Open Class Entry. (In Fremont Center)
9. 4-H Static Entry. (In Heritage Hall)
10. Fair Food Selfie (Picture eating fair food)
Wild Card Items:
1. Smile Big and say “Cheese” in front of the Fair logo, on
the front of the Fremont Center for this selfie!
2. Take a picture with one of the following: A Fremont
County Commissioner or elected official, Fremont County Fair Board Member or Director of the Fremont County Fair.

4)  Wiener Dog Races
Who has the fastest Weiner Dog in Fremont County?! Well, here is your chance to see. Fill out the “Weiner Dog Race” entry form and turn it into the Fremont County Fair office by July 25, at 5 p.m. Event held: Saturday, August 6, 3 p.m.: Show Lawn Ribbons will be given for winners in each heat, prizes will be awarded for Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. Prizes will also be awarded for the Best Dressed Weiner Dog! So dress up those fast dogs and come to the Fremont County Fair Saturday, August 6, 2016!

5)  Domestic Violence Awareness Contests
a.     Clothes Line Project
On an average nearly twenty people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. One in three women and one in four men have been victimized by some sort of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime. One in five children have witnessed domestic violence within their homes. With a Fremont County population of 40,703, this means 6783 women and 5097 men will experience domestic violence sometime within their lifetime. The “Clothes Line Project” contest was developed to educate fair guests about the impact of domestic violence. Participants in the contest can decorate tee shirts with a message about the impact of domestic violence from their perspective. It can be an individual message, a memorial message for a friend or family, or the effect on the community as a whole. The tee shirts will be then displayed on a clothesline at fair. (Shirts be submitted anonymously) $75 Donated by The Victims Assistance programs in Fremont County will be awarded to the winner.

b.     These Hands Are Not for Hurting
These hands are not for hurting coloring contest for kids ages two to five, and six to eleven has been developed as a way for children to design a coloring page pledging to not use their hands for violence. Pick up your coloring pages at the fair office then trace your hands and color. $25 Donated by the Victims Assistance Programs of Fremont County will be awarded to one winner in each age group, 2-5 and 6-11.

Royalty

There’s 49 days until the Fremont County Fair kicks off August 1!

Meet this year’s Fair Royalty:

2016 QUEEN - TIA GOPP
Tia is the 18 year old daughter of Tawn and Shaundi Gopp. She is currently a freshman at Central Wyoming College, studying Equine Science and Ag Business. Some of her favorite hobbies are riding her horse Tillie, spending time with family and friends, hunting and rodeo. In the future Tia wants to be able to compete on the college rodeo team and graduate from college so she can have her own horse training facility.

2016 JUNIOR QUEEN - CYDNEY BRADLEY
Cydney is a 15 year old freshman at Riverton High School. She is the daughter of Mike & Cynnie Bradley. Cydney enjoys playing soccer and basketball; she is active in 4-H and FFA. Cydney also loves riding her horse, camping and hanging out with family and friends. 

2016 JUNIOR QUEEN 1ST ATTENDANT - TIANA LOPEZ
Tiana is the daughter of Travis and Misti Lopez. She has been an active member of the Tri-Valley 4-H Club for 9 years and has held many offices; she now serves as the president. Tiana has also been a member of the Riverton High School FFA for 3 years and is the current historian. She has competed at state FFA in livestock judging and proficiency. She won a bronze proficiency award for her breeding pig project. She shows lambs and has won Grand Champion Market Lamb and many showmanship awards. Tiana and her two sister have a breeding pig program and she is currently starting her own Dorper Lamb Herd. 

2016 PRINCESS - PIPER STARK
Piper is the 14 year old daughter of Lee and Arwen Stark. She is a freshman at Riverton High School. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, hunting, camping, playing tennis and being outdoors. She is active in 4-H where she shoots archery and shows sheep. 

2016 1ST ATTENDANT TO THE PRINCESS - JADE BARRETT
Jade is the 14 year old daughter of Brian and Stephanie Woods. Jade is an 8th Grader at Wind River Middle School. She managed her middle school football time this year and as happy when they became conference champions for the second year in a row. She loves to show horses, pigs and dogs, in January 2016 she showed her pig Bronson in the Denver Stock Show. Jade plans to study Veterinary Science in College so she can become a vet. Jade loves to spend time with her family and she enjoys hunting with her mom and grandpa. Jade enjoys riding her horses Mia, Cinco and Rose.
